Podgornoye seismic station (PDGK)

Podgornoye seismic station (PDGK) was installed in February 2010 on the outskirts of Kyrgyzsay (Podgornoye) village in the Uygur district of Almaty region as part of the CAREMON project. The project is described in detail in https://kndc.kz/kndc/docs/publication/2012_3.pdf. The instrumentation facility with seismic sensors and recording equipment is located on bedrock outcrops in a small subvolcanic intrusion of trachyliparite-trachidacite composition of Upper Palaeozoic age (tlPZ3) with dimensions of 1×2 km (Figure 1).

From 2010 the recording equipment was:

  • Guralp CMG-DM24S6 and Guralp CMG-EAMPC (https://www.guralp.com)

Installed near the sensors. Sampling rate: 100 samples/sec for all channels. Timing: GPS system.

Seismic sensors:

On November 15, 2018 the seismic equipment at the station was replaced. Nanometrics (Canada) equipment was installed.

Recording equipment:

  • Centaur-6 (https://nanometrics.ca/products/digitizers/centaur)

Installed near the sensors. Sampling rate: 40 samples/sec for all channels. Timing: GPS system.

Seismic sensors:

  • Seismometer Trillium 120 Sec (https://nanometrics.ca/products/seismometers/trillium-compact)
  • Accelerometer Titan 4g. (https://nanometrics.ca/products/accelerometers/titan)

Seismic sensors were installed on a pedestal in the instrument vault.

Seismic data are transmitted through the local network to ADSL modem and then to KNDC. In addition, data are stored in Centaur-6 recorder memory.
