You have entered the website of the Kazakhstan National Data Center (KNDC), which operates within the framework of the International Monitoring System (IMS) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
KNDC was established on the basis of the “Center for Collection and Processing of Special Seismic Information” of the Institute of Geophysical Research, a branch of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (www.nnc.kz).
The International Monitoring System includes seismic, infrasound, radionuclide, and hydroacoustic stations located in 90 countries worldwide. Its primary goal is to verify compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
At the same time, continuously operating high-sensitivity stations record a large number of earthquakes and other natural and man-made events across the globe, contributing to seismic safety, tsunami warning systems, and other important applications.
The Kazakhstan monitoring network consists of seismic and infrasound stations, the data from which are collected and processed in Almaty at KNDC. These stations both contribute to the International Monitoring System and provide monitoring of seismic activity in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The main tasks of KNDC include:
— collection and transmission of data from the IGR NNC RK station network
— data exchange with International and National Data Centers
— processing of all incoming data in various operational modes
— scientific research in seismology, seismoacoustics, geodynamics, and related fields
KNDC maintains ongoing cooperation with a number of international and national data centers, including:
— International Data Centre (IDC, Vienna, Austria) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization
— European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (Paris, France)
— International Seismological Centre (UK)
— United States National Data Center (Florida, USA)
— Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (USA)
— Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Obninsk, Russia)
— NORSAR (Norway)
Head of KNDC — Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Natalia Nikolaevna Mikhailova.
