On June 21, 2010, in Almaty, at the Data Center of the Institute of Geophysical Research of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the opening of the International Training Center in support of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) took place.

Financial and methodological support for the establishment of the Training Center was provided by the Norwegian Seismic Array (NORSAR) under a contract funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.

At this Training Center, seismology specialists from various countries of Central Asia will undergo training. They will become familiar with the most advanced methods of processing digital seismic data from monitoring stations, learn about the work of international and national data centers, and understand the principles of operation of the CTBTO.
